Mrs. Anna Jean Peacock

Mrs. Anna Jean Peacock, affectionately known as "Sister Girl," entered into eternal rest and went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 28, 2026, at her home in Shelbyville, Tennessee. She was 97 years old and truly embodied a well lived life. Born on February 23, 1929, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, Anna Jean was the daughter of the late John Nathan Mosley and Luella Gertrude Lacy Mosley. She was preceded in death by her son, James Marable Jr.; her daughter, Rochelle Regina Marable; her sisters, Gloria Crutcher and Betty Jo Rowe; and her brothers, John Mosley, Amos Mosley, Bruce Mosley, and Guy Nathan Mosley. Anna Jean attended school in Bedford County, Tennessee. Though she left high school at an early age, her commitment to education never wavered. Believing that learning was important at every stage of life, she returned to her studies and earned her GED in her fifties. This achievement reflected the determination, resilience, and perseverance that characterized her life and served as an inspiration to those who knew her. Anna Jean worked as a nurse's aide for many years before beginning a career with American Can, where she faithfully served for twenty-five years before retiring. She had many talents and passions, including doing hair, working crossword puzzles, and reading. A devoted member of Scott United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Anna Jean loved traveling, was famous for her homemade chess pie, and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Anita Buckmon, Anthony Marable Sr., Bobby (Rose) Peacock, Yvonne (Michael) Fulton, Michelle Peacock Sneed, and Jerry (Lindsey) Draine; her daughter-in-law, Linda (James) Marable; and her beloved grandchildren: Mark Buckmon, Felica Buckmon, Nikki Buckmon, Ashli Marable, Karleigh Marable, Anthony Marable Jr., Yolonda Marable, Kerry-Allen Marable, Lasonya (Brian) Smith, Chadwick Fulton, Natí (Melanie) Fulton, Anna Marie Sneed, and Seth Draine. She also leaves a host of loving great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her enduring love and gentle spirit. Anna Jean's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy will continue through the generations she so deeply cherished. "Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23 May she rest in eternal peace. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Edgemont Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the church and interment will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery, Shelbyville, Tennessee.
