Mr. George Freddie Charles

George Freddie Charles, known affectionately as George, surrounded by his loving family went home to be with the lord on Monday, November 6, 2023, in Unionville, TN. Born on April 16, 1941, in Pikeville, KY, he lived a full, rich life characterized by faith, love, courage, and much wisdom. George was a beloved family man. He joined his beautiful devoted wife of 57 years, Melda Charles. His legacy will live on, as he was a devoted father to his two daughters, Ruth C. (John) Yates, of Unionville, and Beverly C. (Tim) Bowling, of Howell, Michigan. George was greatly love by all his grandchildren, T.J. (Amanda) Bowling, Luke (Tricia) Bowling, Melody (Adam) Deas, Thomas (Crystal) Bowling, Daniel (Laurin) Bowling, Wade (Alanna) Bowling, and Bethany (Jonathan) Brown. Moreover, he was a cherished great-grandfather to Noah, Zach, Madison, James, Ethen, Thomas, Rilee, Jackson, Blaine, Kylie, Natalia, Justin, A. J., Olivia, Drake, Alayna, Camryn, Bryson, Jameson; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was preceded in death by his brother, JT Charles, sister Ruth Mary Potter, and brother, Gene Charles. He is survived by his sister Ruby Leffer, and half-siblings Ricky Charles, Doug Charles, and Marsha Charles. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength and a beacon of love, always there to lend a helping hand or share a word of wisdom. A hardworking man, George spent many years as a dairy and cattle farmer while he worked as a GM where he retired from. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he too great pride in his professional achievements. George was a member of Parkview Baptist Church where he had served the lord as a deacon. George was a man of many interests, but his time in the Marine Corps held a special place in his heart. He was known for his great laugh and bright smile, which could light up a room and bring a smile to anyone's face. His ability to find joy and humor in life was contagious, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be missed beyond words. In the words of Albert Einstein, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." George embodied this sentiment, living a life marked by faith and service to his family, and his country. His loving, courageous, and wise nature touched countless lives and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we remember George, we celebrate a life well-lived. His love, courage, and wisdom will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His infectious laugh and unwavering faith will continue to bring smiles to our faces and strength to our spirits. George Freddie Charles aka “The Godfather” which he was lovingly referred to by his daughters and grandchildren be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a blessing to them and all who knew him. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Dr. Lucas Bowling will officiate, with burial to follow in Cothran Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5-8 PM Friday, November 10, 2023, at the funeral home. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
