Lynn Thompson Davis

Lynn Thompson Davis June 21, 1962 – September 7, 2026 Lynn Thompson Davis, a passionate horseman, successful businessman, and lifelong adventurer, passed away on September 7, 2026, at the age of 64 from complications following a liver transplant. His passing came after a courageous and resilient battle with his health. True to his spirited nature, Lynn used this hard-won time to be with his mother, Linda; his two younger sisters, Lori and Lucinda; and their families. Born on June 21, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Lynn followed in his mother’s footsteps and demonstrated an early talent and love for horses. At the age of nine, he received his first pony, “Just Buck.” He continued showing and training quarter horses throughout his life, earning numerous awards and sharing many accomplishments with his family. Lynn attended Purdue University, where he earned a degree in construction management. He spent 35 years as an independent contractor and sales representative for Duro-Last Roofing in Kentucky and Tennessee. Lynn loved to learn and also worked as a private contractor for more than 20 years. His most recent position and one of which he was especially proud was at Crane Naval Base in Crane, Indiana. There, he served as a senior subject matter expert, obtained security clearance through the U.S. Department of Defense, and helped oversee several technical projects on the base. To his children, Lacey Jaye Davis and Devin Phillip Davis, Lynn was an adventurous father who believed in experiencing life to its fullest. A licensed pilot who owned several aircraft over the years, Lynn took to the skies as naturally as he took to the mountains and the sea. He taught Devin to ski when Devin was just two years old, beginning a lifelong tradition of skiing together on mountains throughout North America. They also traveled extensively and enjoyed scuba diving throughout the Caribbean. Lynn loved boating and spent many summers on Lake Cumberland and Kentucky Lake, where he made cherished memories and lasting friendships. He also enjoyed hiking and owned racehorses. Lynn supported his children wholeheartedly in their pursuits—from wilderness programs, rock climbing, and skateboarding with his son to quarter horse shows and championships with his daughter. One of the last pieces of advice he shared reflected both his lifelong love of horses and his recent enjoyment of the television series Landman: “Life is too short to ride bad horses.” For all the adventures he enjoyed and accomplishments he achieved, Lynn also found great happiness in life’s simpler pleasures. He loved sushi and adventure movies, especially stories about Wyatt Earp and the American West. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing that talent with his mother. Lynn is survived by his mother, Linda Kendall Davis of Shelbyville, Tennessee; his daughter, Lacey Davis of Lexington, Kentucky; his granddaughter, Leyla, of Versailles, Kentucky; his son, Devin Davis of Lexington, Kentucky; his sister Lori Davis Smith and her husband, Rex, of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sister Lucinda Davis Rzymek and her husband, Michael, of Cleveland, Ohio; and two nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Thompson; his stepfather, Phil Davis; and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Lynn will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who shared in his memorable journey. Feldhaus-Gowen-Smith Chapel is honored to be serving the family of Lynn Thompson Davis.
